2013 Cohort:

UMED tuition has always stood out from the rest for me. And if it were not for their thorough approach to problems and the unbelievable extent to which they would care for their students, I would not be where I am today. The classroom environment they created is something I will never forget - it was focused yet friendly and I felt like I could really be myself and ask a question at any time I was in doubt.

Khoi tutored me in 2013 and I am now more than halfway through my degree at Flinders, having entered via the undergraduate pathway. I can say without a doubt that Khoi played a pivotal role in my acceptance into medical school and not just in preparing me for the UMAT. Firstly, he taught us unique techniques that were widely applicable to the various types of questions favoured by the exam’s writers. More importantly, he readied us for encountering foreign question styles by developing his students’ problem-solving skills and helping us gain different perspectives on the content at hand. Khoi’s dedication to his students is also clear, as he goes the extra mile to provide mentorship and emotional support, as well as guidance to navigating the other challenges of year 12. Additionally, Khoi’s enthusiasm and warmth made the work more tolerable and sometimes even (dare I say it?) fun.

There are no words to describe how much I gained from being tutored by Khoi and Peter. They created a supportive environment that truly made me feel like they cared about my progress and wellbeing. The tutorials were very structured and interactive. Their knowledge, skills and tips regarding the UMAT is unrivalled. Joining their UMAT tutoring is without a doubt one of the best decisions that I made - I would not have achieved my result without them.

This UMAT preparation course, established by Alain Khoi Tran and Peter Nguyen, has clearly proven results. Through pairing a unique learning experience, committed tutors and a positive environment allows for maximisation of your unrealised academic potential. After almost a decade of continual development that has catered to the constant changes of the ACER UMAT examination, this well-structured course is up-to-date and provides focus to the nuances present in the three examinable sections. This preparation program has assisted many students over the years to find success and thrive in their busy final year of schooling. I personally found that the supportive nature of the tutors, paired with years of knowledge, to be what sets this program apart, and no doubt a major component to my successful admission into the University of Adelaide Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery program
